Bringing Healthcare and Hope to Jebba
In early 2017, The Corinth’s Humanitarian Foundation (TCHF) embarked on a mission to transform lives in Jebba, a vibrant but underserved community in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. Through our Medical Outreach & Health Sensitization Program, we provided essential healthcare services, promoted preventive health education, and empowered residents to take charge of their well-being.
This initiative was not just about medical intervention—it was about restoring hope, saving lives, and building a healthier future for the people of Jebba.
Urgent & Long-Term Care
Our outreach was designed to tackle both immediate health concerns and long-term wellness strategies, ensuring sustainable impact. The program had two core components:
1. Medical Outreach: Healing Hands, Compassionate Care
Volunteer medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, provided free healthcare services to hundreds of individuals who lacked access to medical care. The outreach included:
Free medical consultations and diagnoses for various illnesses, from common infections to chronic conditions.
On-site treatment and medication distribution to address acute health concerns.
One-on-one counseling to help residents better understand their health conditions and available treatment options.
2. Health Sensitization: Knowledge for a Healthier Tomorrow
Beyond immediate care, we aimed to educate and empower the community on preventive health practices. Residents engaged in interactive sessions covering:
The importance of nutrition and balanced diets for overall well-being.
Disease prevention strategies, including hygiene practices, malaria prevention, and maternal health education.
Physical activity and lifestyle habits that promote longevity and well-being.
Changing lives, One Family at a time
Our Medical Outreach & Health Sensitization Program in Jebba reached over 390 families, ensuring they received the medical attention they desperately needed. For many, it was their first time speaking with a healthcare professional. Through this initiative:
Families who previously struggled to access medical care received lifesaving treatment and guidance.
Community members gained valuable knowledge to help them prevent illnesses and maintain healthier lives.
A culture of preventive care and wellness was fostered, laying the groundwork for a healthier Jebba.
Moments from Jebba: A Community Transformed
The gratitude in the eyes of an elderly woman receiving medication for chronic pain, the relief of a mother whose child was treated for an infection, and the excitement of young minds learning about nutrition—these are the moments that define TCHF’s mission. Through the selfless dedication of our volunteers and the resilience of the Jebba community, this outreach became more than a medical program; it became a symbol of hope and renewal.
The Road Ahead: Expanding Access to Healthcare
At TCHF, we believe that health is a fundamental human right. Our work in Jebba was a step toward ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to medical care and health education. But there’s still more to be done. With continued support, we aim to expand our medical outreach programs, reaching more communities across Nigeria.
